hi

i have an "Aerokit vosper high speed RAF crash rescue tender" It also say on the label trade distributors "E. Keil & CO LTD". This was my fathers and is untouched still in kit form. the instructions are there and its in its original box, which is damaged. His own label says 1952, i had a friend look over it who has built a lot of models and he says its all there and the bits are in good condition.

Its a shame its sat for over 50years and not being built, i'd like to pass it on for a fair price to some one who will get some pleasure from building it. Could some one please point me in th right direction.

Wow ! that is a rare kit,although seen in the period catalogues I have never seen one in the flesh.

That is defenately a collectors item and should be either put on Ebay with a suitable reserve on it or sold by auction at a specialist auction house that deals with such items.

I would not think that it is worth a fortune as they were a very common model and have been emulated for many years but a good condition original is worth ensuring that it goes to a good home.

Have yoiu considered an advertisement in Model Boats Magazine. That is the audience you are aiming at and they regularly do articles on this type of model and thier ads are free.

What length is the boat? I f you advertise it always quote the length and breadth so prospective buyers have an idea of what to expect.

i had a similar model many years ago which required a deisel engine to propel it, these are quite rare these days. The alternative electric power could pose a problem as the boat is quite weighty IIRC.

If nobody else replies here I suggest you post on ModelBoatMahem as they can often help with identification and details.

if i were you i would keep it, cos the longer it stays in the unmade condition then the greater the value will be.

I agree with that,these models were built and made in their thousands,but not many survive as original Keil Kraft kits in their original spartan boxes,if you are tempted to make one then trace the parts onto fresh timber and build a replica from the kit plan and printwood.

Tip for the future is that vintage Keil Kraft kit products are escalating in price,same as Veron and Mercury flying model kits,these are going through the roof.

Was very lucky last year to pick up some original wartime solid kits of obscure make,these will be made into replica models with new timber.

***Here is a tip Chris for building from vintage kits,take the printwood to your local printshop,ask them to copy them onto sticky back paper,all that you have to do then is roll down the paper onto fresh wood with a printers wooden roller ( obtainable from art shops ) cutting out the wood is aided by the sticky back paper holding the grain together ( thats a bonus for starters ) and turned fittings can be spun up in an electric drill used as a lathe,in other words just copy everything the best way you can think of,best of luck.

Nice rare kit and they're remaking them which might save you templating time. Start with Deans Models or Waverly Models also the Sea Queen is being remarketed too,I think

From a selling point of view i would recomend ebay or auctions. That or as others have said, posting on a model boat specific forum. If it was me however i would keep it :-)

A 46" model was sold recently on ebay usa for over $300 and they are going over hear at times for a kit in unstarted condition for about £150 + , I have bult a few and they are a nice boat, there is more info on the The Model Fireboat Website! - Home Page! web site, there is a company making new kits at present of the 46" ones and they are about £200 each with fittings.
