    Hello all

    Hi everyone,

It's been over 12 years since I was last involved in R/C boats. I gave it up when I moved house and got married / kids etc.

I now stay in a lovely place in the Scottish Borders. I was watching my 2 sons (10 & 12 years old) larking about in the local river the other day and have decided to take the step of restoring one or 2 of the boats I still have, so the kids can enjoy them.

So.........I'm gonna be picking brains, as I've forgotten more than I ever knew. I'll be looking for help mainly with electrics/electronics/motors etc.

For your info. the boats I have are 36" Perkasa / 1:50 scale Nordkap and the start of a 'scratch' built tug based on Smit Nederland (but I think this one will be heading for the ship graveyard purely because I had only finished the hull and deck and don't really have the time to do much to the boats).

Anyway, look forward to your help etc.

    Thanks

    Grant

Hi Grant and a very warm welcome to the forum, There are quite a few RC Boat contributoirs here so there should be someone to answer most of your questions.

I hope you enjoy your time here and share some of your own experiences as time goes on.

Welcome back Grant. I guess you were joking about the skip etc. You'd get a buyer if you advertise the hull on this and other forums mate.

Don't trash your boat. It's wrong!! :bigmistake:Someone will want it. Hope to see a thread of you other build too mate! All the best.

      Jason

:bonjour: I do get carried away don't I?

welcome to the forum Grant, hope you enjoy your time on the forum. Im sure someone will be able to answer any questions you have, although i am not into r/c i would still love to see any builds you do in prgress.

perhaps you could put the hull up on ebay if advertising on forums fails.

here is another forum that might gain your interest!

An internet harbour for all things model boats.

            Far away?

Hello all and a warm welcome to Grant. If anyone is in the Border region it should not be too hard to attend some of the thriving clubs around there. Not knowing where you are is a bit restrictive in offering advice as to where to sail with like minded souls but follow the links on my tag line and you'll at least find one decent club to which it is worth travelling to (I do) often

            all the best

            Jim

                Welcome Grant! :bonjour:

As BigJBB said there are a few club around that area. Not sure how close you are to St Boswells but they have a club and Edinburgh and Glasgow are not too far for regattas. (Come to Richmonds, you will be most welcome although I sadly will probably not make it.)
