I'm wanting to make some wooden torpedos to put on the deck of my submarine support ship. Does anyone have any photos of torps or know of a web site with suitable pictures please?
Other usefull sources may be such books as Anatomy of the Ship, Type VII U-Boats which may have some thing in.
I will have a look through my u-boat library tomorrow and see if there are any usefull refernces anywhere.
Don't forget though that torpedoes, as everything else, evolve and change over the years so you may need to think about what period you are modelling and therefore what was available at the time.
For 'Study or private research' you are allowed to make a single copy of 1 whole chapter or up to 5% of a book without infringing copyright laws. As long as you don't publish the drwings on line your fine
Thanks for the help Mankster but what is the differrence in publishing and posting on a web site? Are you saying that I could not post it on a thread but I could send a copy as an e-mail attachment?
I know that John has concerns with copyright issues so I would not want to do anything I am not supposed to.
John any thoughts?
Yes, as long as it is not going to be published (in print or online) for public consumption and not for commerical purposes, then you can photocopy 1 chapter or 5% of a book. Sending a personal email to one email address not considered publishing.
I know this is not exactly what you are looking for, but, the people on this website may have info on other torpedoes so you might try contacting them.
Another interesting site I visited dealt with building torpedo boats... http://www.hnsa.org/doc/pt/specs/index.htm below is a photo fromn that site (apparently you can read all of the pages of this book online.
Ok, now I know the two above links arent exactly what you are looking forand I wish I could help ya out more, but if nothing else, the above links are interesting reading.
Try searching for "WWII torpedo specifications" in www.google.com or for different answers try www.ask.com (same search ).
I hope that this has been of atleast a little help, if not, hopefully its good reading .
