Hi All, Regarding an article as above reviewing the Futaba 6ex fass 2.4ghz radio for using in model boats, are there any club members using these radios at thei:thinking:r lakes etc, I would like your thoughts on this subject, many thanks flyone2.

I just got one of these as I needed more than my old two channel set and so far I have been impressed with it, all except the small capacity battery the tx comes with.
My last rc set was a attack r so things have moved on since then, but what I liked most was the ability to fiddle with settings. For example I didn’t want my boat to go full power in reverse, so you just dial down the percentage of travel from 100% to whatever you want, in this case just 50 to start with. Stick still moves full travel, but actual speed controller movement is only half. Other than this there are loads of options to play with, most not needed on a boat, but still good to have. I particularly wanted two stick controlled channels and two toggle switches to operate rc relays, meaning a 6 channel was my minimum as a four channel set would have all been stick operated. This has that, plus several other toggle switches I have yet to work out what they do. I’ll read the manual fully at one point and find out.
For the money I think it was a good deal, as set comprises of 4 servos, and servos horns and fixings and tx and rx battery and charger which other makes seem to leave out.
Plus being 2.4ghz I don't have to worry about the three thoughtless old gits that go to the local pond and don’t check frequencies when they turn up, and just switch on there transmitters regardless. On slower boats this is not a problem, but with high speed boats, its can be areal pain if suddenly it goes crazy.
