    Telling R/H from L/H propellers

    Hi all

I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me how to tell a left hand propeller from a right hand propeller. Its I need to replace the prop on my rc boat, but am unsure which to get.

    Many thanks

    Hi Don

No practical advice but I would guess one shaft turns clockwise the other anti. is it it possible to put shaft +prop into a electric drill, a glass with a small amount of water and pull the trigger, if you get soaked the the propulsion is from prop backwards if you don't i guess it's going the right way [and you can use it to stir your coffee] try reversing the drill I would think with trial and error you should be able to work it out, as you have now realised I don't really know what i'm talking about

    best of luck peter:thinking:

Hi, The way to find out between right / left is to look at the prop from the rear of the vessel, this would give you IE: clockwize rotation is Right handed and Anti-clock is Left handed.

Thats on a real vessel with twin screws

If you have twin screws (props) it may not be that the right hand side (Stbd) would be right handed Left hand side (Port) be left handed, that would depend on a numerous set of factors like type of vessel use of vessel and builder (of model) etc.

Another way is to lay the prop on a flat surface with the boss up, look at the prop and the blade to the right of the boss will slope down in a clockwize direction.

      R,

          Hi all

Thanks for the input. I actually met a guy at the local boating pond who had just bought a RH prop so that sorted the problem.

          Many thanks
