up and running with teething problems!

Well, she ran on the pond this week and generally was ok. A couple of things need sorting though and maybe somebody has some pointers.

    1) Its not as fast as i was lead to believe it would be, it will not plane though is a pretty quick almost plane.

    2) The radio range was dreadful (Acoms) measured as only 40 feet odd? The aerial is not connected because it was thought the wire running under the deck would be fine.

    3) When it is at its range limit the speed controller stops and starts, in addition sometimes using the rudder causes speed control issues.

Any help to resolve these issues would be great, I am new to r/c.

1 what is the boat ?

2 get the aerial up the mast most defiantly

3 caused by aerial below deck

Ditch the Acoms set up and get a decent set up like Fuatba

      Teething troubles

It is difficult to comment on your speed/planing issue without knowing the boat, motor and batteries.

Regarding the radio issue the usual rule is that if it is in sight it is within range - therefore if you are only getting 40 feet you have a problem!

Have you fitted suppressors to your motor? If not do so.

Usually the way you have fitted your aerial is fine - assuming you have not cut it which is a no no.Try fitting a small section vertically by putting it inside a short section of hollow plastic tube and fixing it through the deck.

The other radio problem of fluttering rudder and interferance between channels could be caused by someone else on your frequency or not enough power in the battery.I always use a separate receiver battery rather than BEC but thats just me and many people do as you do.

      Hope some of this helps
