    Styrene rod

    Hi

Does anyone know of a source for 1/2" or thereabouts styrene rod.I need to machine some components which I can stick to a styrene moulding. Alternatively any source of any other rod material which will stick to styrene.(and the adhesive). Cannot find a source for ABS rod.

    Cheers

Most model shops stock this stuff mate, its made by Evergreen, however, the problem is at this diameter it is hollow, what i do is find the exact diameter and then blank the ends with styrene sheet and sand until the end is the same profile as the tube so it looks solid. If thats no good mate i think RS Components do solid rods or threaded Nylon rods that you could turn down. They are on the web,.

Thanks but has to be solid. I am converting Hermann Marwede to RC and need to mount brass bushes in the rod. Any other plastic will do but would need a suitable adhesive to stick to bottom of hull for mounting rudder. Has to be reliable or bye bye boat

Have you tried acrylic rod, you can get it in various sizes and can be machined and struck with styrene glue.

How about "Plastruck" in California, USA.

Or McMaster-Carr. they are an industrial warehouse that sells to the general public.
