*** A sad signs of the times, the specialists sometimes need to diversify a little to survive,I hope that someone will take them over to fulfill this market and carry on with their goodwill.

I wonder what Martin, Howes & Baylis will do for steam power plants in their launches?

The Topaz and Opal launches are usually supplied with Gemini or Pintail engines?

Who else supplies model marine steam ?

John Hemmens are an alternative to Cheddar, but...... they do not have the range of boilers and engines nor that electronic setup to autofill the boiler and keep the engine going for a fairly long time.

Also the Martin,Howes and Baylis full kits came with the steam plants configured for the respective boats, down to the required tubing being bent to the right shape etc.

However I expect MH&B will source another steam plant other than Cheddar and still supply a full kit - at a price!!!!!

Wonder if someone will buy out Cheddar and keep it going

i bought the boat kit first and planned to buy the running hardware later ( when funds allow) as my wife would have gone potty if ihad spend the £800 or so on the complete kit......

i have already started alot of the timberwork on the boat and i am using some differing vaneers and timbers to make my boat just that little bit different from all the others i see.....

i will slowly start looking for another possible engine and boiler, i have heard of a second hant cheddar outfit up for sale via a club member so may go and have a look at that in the near future......

Heard that Stuarts have bought out Cheddar and have moved everything, lock stock and barrel, over to their place in the Channel Islands where they will re-establish the Cheddar steam plant line. When and at what prices I do not know.

                    Anyone any confirmation of this?
