    Rigging for HMS Warspite

    Hi

I will be starting the Acadamy 1/350 Warspite soon and I cannot find any rigging plans for this ship. Does any one who has built this model know where I can get information on the rigging. Also what is the best material to use for the rigging and what thickness of material do I need?

    Thanks

    Graham

May be of some help Graham. Can be blown up to about twice the size but then it is very pixillated.

Other help may be got from museums they often have plans of ships.

These dreadnaughts were beautiful looking ships. Pictures of a number of them at sea taken looking into their bows are really something.

As for the material to use, pop into the forum shop and have a look a EZ-line. Very fine and slightly elastic, so it stays tight but not so tight that it bends things.

I couldn't find any planes for rigging when I built mine so I just copied the KG5 class , only thing is the masts are so thin on academes warspite it's hard not to bend them , when I attached my rigging the forward mast snapped.

Don't forget to put it on here when you've finished her , my lovely wife has just bought me the limited edition academy one so it will give me an idea of how the rigging agent on

Another idea for the rigging on small scale models is to use small diameter copper wire, lightly stretched to make it straight so that you do not have to tension it. A small blob of super glue at the ends makes it look like a thimble. Cheers Derek

Graham 15 minutes between Test Match Innings & looked up these. Interesting as Sacla Models goes back to 2004.
