Thanks Derek. Plastic Weld is a fantastic product, i love it for this kind of job. Goint to paint this crane tonight. There is no mention of doing it at al at this stage and the next step is to fix it to the deck. I would have thought that that would make it difficult to paint.

    Cheers

Hi Andy, in a lot of the kits you have to use your own judgement and commom sense. Quite often it's best to leave things like Cranes and other sticking up bits off till the last minute as they have a habit of being snagged and ripped off with your sleeve as you stretch over to do something else. Personally I would paint and store things like the Crane until the main build is finished and painted, then fit the bits and pieces at the last moment. But you probably know all this anyway. Cheers Derek

Thanks Derek, I agree with everything you say, however, this build doesnt allow me to do this as the crane will be a working one and on the next upload you will see the crane drive motor being built. All this has to be in place for when the upper deck is fitted. It will be impossible to do after, just one of those obsticles to contend with i guess.

        Cheers

Lol. Everything will be operational on this boat Derek, Crane, Radars, Lights, Anchors and a few other bits i think.

            Cheers

As mentioned earlier, here is the crane swivel mechanism. This as it suggests makes the crane turn left and right. There are still more motors yet as you would imagine, these make it rise and another works the winch.

Whilst carrying on with the build im still painting the crane so ive jumped a few steps, next step im going on is to build the towing assembley,

This part will hold a few components not only the towing winch.

                    Cheers

Thanks Ole. Im really enjoying this built, it is a refreshing change after taking almost 6years to build 3 planes. Ill have plenty more of this stuff to come. I did hope to post tonight but i found that im a couple of parts short on the next phase. They should be in the kit but they are not. Ill pop into my mates shop tomorrow, he should have them in stock.

                        Cheers

Latest progress update. A look at the finished crane now its painted.

I stopped off at the model shop as planned and picked up the missing parts i needed.

Now i have these i could carry on with the towing mechanism.

Cunningly Robbe have hidden the on/off switch behind the rear bulk head curtain. Nice and easy to access.

Now here you can see the towrope release mechanism, Closed and then Open positions. A loop is tied in the rope and secuted by the rod. when the rod travels to the fully open position it slips the rope.

                          Cheers

That Crane looks so realistic, and i've seen a few, you might just need a load test certificate for it. Cheers Derek
