Looking good. I think the metal barrels, when painted, do look better than the plastic ones

Derek, I've tried the oerlikons from Master, and found them very fiddlely. I ended up using the plastic guns, with the metal blast shields and the brass bases. On their web site are detailed instructions to making these little guns

Thanks for your comments Lads. Thanks Graham, Master have a video on their website as well. Looking at some better quality photos I found on the internet, it looks as if the kit 20mm Oerlikons are more accurate so I will probably stick to that and add the Gold Medal PE. Cheers Derek

This week have finished assembly of the 8 off 5.25" Guns, also the additions of the ladders and door on the housings (not part of the kit; came from the Gold Medal PE set.)

Cut off and replaced the barrels of the main 14" Guns and fitted them to the turrets.

The 20mm Oerlikons in the kit only come with the shield, so have used the Gold Medal PE to add brass shield, gun sights, shoulder rests and wheel. One down 25 more to go.

For ease of handing have kept the Oerlikons on their sprues and used blue tack to secure them to some scrap cardboard.

                    Thanks for your support Gents

Have completed the 26 off 20mm Oerlikons.

Next I moved onto the 8 Barrel 2 Pounders. Because I have purchase the Gold Medal PE Detail set, I have had to remove the solid guards and replace it with the PE.

The last photo shows the finished 2 pounder, seven more to go.

                        A real brain numbing week.

Finished the other 7 off 2 pounder guns. Cut off cleaned up and added scrap evergreen to represent the ammunition boxes on the 18 off Oerlikon Tubs.

Next I made up the 4 off 5.25" Gun Range Finders, I find it easier to glue the Dipoles to the plastic before mounting the remainder of the antenna.

Made up the 2 off 40mm Quad Bofors.

Next mind bender are the 7 off Type 282 Fire Control Radar, which I have just started.

Hope the excitement hasn't got to you too badly. Derek

Got to admire your perseverance with all this PE Derek, but it's all going to look great when done.

This week I finished the remaining 7 off Type 282 Fire Control Radar and fitted them to the KGV as I don't think them will be too much of an obstruction during painting. Also finished the Aft Fire Control Director.

I took a gamble and ordered some time ago the PE set for the POW Ships boats hoping that they would fit the KGV. They do, but it would appear that the POW has 11 boats compared to KGV's 15. So I am working on what I have and will either leave off the other 4 or use them as is provided the difference is not too stark. Will decide later.

Have shown some photos below of the Admiral's barge as supplied with the kit, the PE parts and with the PE fitted.

Some of the boats have rudders and propellers, for me they are just too small, so I am leaving them off.

The last photo shows 8 of the boats finished, 3 more to go.
