It should work moni the original kit actually came with an electric motor to drive it, the kit still has all the parts for putting the electric motor in just no instructions or motor but I think I may try to do it.

I did think I could put it in my mississippi sternwheeler as its about the right scale but I think it will just be a display model.

Nice work, I like the look of this Ken.

As for fitting in a boat, as a working static model it would look superb-but the first time it hit water it would snap like a twig

Yes I realise that si there's no way it would turn a real paddle wheel I have most of it together now and although it works I can see it is very fragile especially the centre bearing and it only seems to turn one way if you try and turn it the other all the bearing seem to be under stress and ready to snap.

This is actually a very old kit so you are doing a cracking job of it. It is also very interesting to see just how engines in the early steam days actually worked, which was great for the youngsters at the time it came out as they could learn a lot from kits such as this.

This is looking really good though and as has been mentioned originally it was a motorised kit. The motor went in the base and drove the crankshaft via a couple of plastic gear wheels. It was fascinating to see it going round but the base used to act like a sound box and the thing made quite a racket when turning!

Hi all well I'm calling this finished (not motorizing it as its too fragile) it does work but I think if I put a motor on it it wouldnt last long.
