Even a Big Beasty Boy needs little helpers!

I wanted two destroyers to compliment my King George V Battleship, but didn't think such things existed in 1/1200. But I was wrong, Airfix do them, so I've bought a pack containing two ships.

Postie brought these yesterday, so I've made a start.

Superstructure and guns added......Sorry about the state of the tin, it's my enamel mixing thingy!

    Cheers,

Right, I've completed what was in the box and painted the ship too. For such a rediculously small model, it has a surprising amount of detail. I'll do a little research and see if this class of destroyer had a rear mast of sorts.

I filed down the mast as much as I dared, but it's thinner than a fine needle now, so I can't remove any more......

Here is the first one ready for some more of that dreaded disruptive pattern I did on that KG5.

    Cheers,
    Ron
Edit. Just looked at 'real one' and it does have a rear mast - of sorts. So I'll add summat to both ships.

Well, the boy done good with the big 'un, so I daresay he'll cope with these.

I'd still like to see railings though!

BRRR! looks a cold scene indeed. Howzabout a few of the lads having a nice hot cuppa on deck that icy and miserable morn?..

                    Seriously......Great stuff.....Jim

Giz a break. No handrails!....or diddy figures, nuffink. It's taking me all my time just to see the ships!

Thanks for the excellent posts folks.

Here are the two destroyers in their 'Disruptive Pattern.' Certainly not Admiralty Pattern, more spanner's!

All ready for a bit of rigging, ice and general weathering. Then touch up where I've missed.

                              Thank you chaps.

Tony, I think I'll do Richthofen's 1/144 Fokker triplane.....plus authentic rigging, of course!

Here are the two finished destroyers. Very basic rigging, just main mast stays and one connecting the two masts. A coating of ice and with a flag each, ready to join HMS KGV
