Airfix 1/72 RNLI Severn Class Lifeboat

Hi all I decided to give this one a go, it's actually a very nice kit and at 12.99 cheap.
Here's the box instruction booklet and my start on it.

I intend to put it on a base in a very rough sea.

Ken, when I built my Severn on here, the one thing I did find out was be very, very careful when removing the hand/ safety rails from the sprues.....

Also, I must confess that after I weighed up the window quality, and not wanting a removable superstructure, I decided ( apart from the inner 'Dash Board') not to build all the rest of the cabin detail....Me Bad!

It's a good fit build. I'll be following with interest.

    Cheers,
    Ron

...Ships and Boats - Completed Boats - page 2. I did a trilogy. In Harbour / At Sea / The Rescue.....Good fun.

Ken. In case you don't know, there is a set of actual RNLI colours available - Unless you do like wot I did and mixed yer own!

Very nice indeed Ken. Its a cracking little kit in terms of detail. One of the best things in my view that Airfix had turned out for a very long time.

The colours are so eye catching as well so a great kit to make.

            Hope it continues well.

              Good start Ken.

Don't forget Google Images as a good reference for the final hull, deck and superstructure colours.

A fair way to go yet, but when I did mine, the decals were awful - very brittle. Especially the long multi-coloured one. So watch out when you get to that stage.

              Cheers,
              Ron

Do you think this water is ok not to steep?

I won't get any more done for a week as I'm on hols.

There's nothing like a good rough sea Ken, I think it will look great.
                  Have a nice Holiday too.

Suits the role of the vessel, I like the thought of it smashing through massive swells. Makes me queasy though!

Hi all here's the next update, I've heard lots of people say this is a bad fitting kit but I have to say it seems spot on to me (so far anyway) just a trial fit of the top cabin nothing fixed yet I'm toying with the idea of making it removable to show the detailed interior.

Good to see this back on the chocks Ken, she's looking good......and I trust your hols. went o.k.

The fit was fine on my kit too. It was just the very frail handrails I found a bit of a ball ache......Not to mention painting all those aluminium window frames!

Ken, it needs to be complete to make it sea worthy not half built and it needs a crew ha! ha! but very nice tho.

I've got to say for pocket money prices this is a really detailed kit I'm really enjoying it, I must have the one good fitting kit airfix made of it because I've got to say so far it's been a perfect fit no problems at all I wonder if there is a bigger than 1/72 model of this kit.
