    Hatchettes 1/200 Bismarck by me

Hi guys and welcome to the BIsmack build that is being done by myself. I’m not a history buff or know 100 % about the Biz and I will have to watch out for copyrights as I don’t want to get into trouble but I’ll share the build and ask that all comments positive or other be put on this thread
I’ll start putting pics up later

This was the first and second issues parts (Scale 1/200)
It starts with the foredeck ( think this what it’s called ) there are a few pieces you have to attach with superglue.
I followed instructions and used glue sparingly using cocktail stick
The picture instructions are easy to follow. The magazine gives you details of the Bismarck.
There is also the first part of the bow plate which is made of metal and is already painted
They do give you more screws than you will require to assemble this kit so I have purchased a plastic pill box where I will name the spare screws in case I lose any screws or is needed later on in the build.
The next issue has the first of the four main turrets ( called ‘Anton’) the instructions call for you to build up the turret which has a motor and straight forward gears that will mimic the turret firing. It also looks like there maybe other gears involved lower in the turret base for the motor to elevate the gun as well ( that’s what I saw in the tv ad )

Right on with magazine No 3
In this episode you get the 2nd part to the hull and the first Arado 196
Firstly I bought myself some new micro screwdrivers that will come in handy and some pill boxes for the spare screws
The hull ( front part that attaches to the front bow via two small screws ( took me 25 mins to get those little f### in but I decide to make it easy by putting a bit of blue tack on the end of my screwdriver and push home before I screwed into place ( if your building this you will know what I mean ) oh by the way I have two pieces of the hull ( metal ) and weighs 23lbs already this ship when finished wil be heavy!!
Next is the Arado and this comes in several parts but you can make a very good likeness once complete
As per rules of the world today we cannot have swastika on the tail so this I will source from my spare decals fo the tail insignia

            Step 4 magazine 4
This is a fiddly one but the carpet monster never won me out on it
You get another part off the hull side 3rd part and and a connector but this wont be used till a later issue its just one screw to fit here the rest of the screws you will keep safe ( I put them in a pill box )
Next are the two catapults for the aircraft ( these are very fiddly but I do suggest a wee drop of superglue on the axle to wheel as the pesky buggers fly off into carpet land but I retrieved them and fitted to the cradles
Next it's the sliders of the catapult and these actually work ( very impressed )
The last part in section 4 is a battery box and a small piece of circuit board.
Once connected up ( batteries not included) you can connect to your First turret "Anton" built in part 2 and it actually looks like the big 38cm guns are firing and recoiling as they would.

Part 5 this is more of the forward deck and another piece of the hull front like in issue 3 jus the mirror image with connector and one screw ( save rest of screws for later
Next is the anchor capstan so and anchor chain openings
A little bit fiddly but with a bit of superglue and a cocktail stick it's pretty straight forward assembly
              Pics of progress

The magazines are very interesting too and I may have some pic fun with tests for all you avid historians ??

Part 6 and that's it for the time being folks
The next piece of the keel is in this issue and a connector with two screws
This is going to be one heavy mother of a ship when complete!!
Have to wait another month before the next issues arrive

The answer was Paul von Hindenburg and chancellor Adolf Hitler taken at Gut Neudeck, East Prussia in Poland 1934
Hindenburg died the same year elevating Hitler to power
