Chris, you using two seperate power sources, one for propulsion and one for lights etc?

AN YES I AM Si one 12v 12amp hr batt for all the servos an lights an such an another 12v 12 amphr for the motors but again im a bit worryied over them 40 amp x 2 ESC as they just do not look up to the job an they were over a hundred quid an wish id have bought some different ones but again will see as they may suprise me an work ok but i just doubt it

I'm thinking that lithium would give you a lot more capacity for the same weight. Expensive though.

Depends if he needs the lead acid for ballast also.
AN Yes Si you hit the nail on the head as im useing these big batts for ballast as this is a big hull an will take quite a bit of weight to get her to sit right this is why ive never built a big battle ship as i love the new jersy BB but in a big scale whay to big to handel

Careful Chris, if you're flattening a 12 ah battery in 10 minutes, you've either got a heck of a drain, or there's summat wrong with the battery - that battery should be capable of giving a 12 amp drain for 1 hour, you're drawing power a rate of - at a rough guess - 72 amps (if the wire near the battery (before it gets split off) isn't hot, then it's the battery)

Doubt that the servos are pulling anywhere near an amp when at rest (would think more in terms of milliamps) - or even when working. Have you a multi-tester? I'd suggest to put it inline from the battery set it to amps and check the readings, if you're getting a big drain, try and narrow down where it is.

+1, but with care - most multimeters won't handle more than 10 amps.

Plenty for thought there Chris from the guys on the batteries .
Sure you'll sort it, but at the moment becoming a frustrating problem .
You definitely need those fans to keep the kit running well .

YUP im afraid so Rick as a power shortage at the moment but i did some tests an found the 12v to 6v reducer that powers the R/X is getting very hot an its a old one so im goin to replace it with a new one an see if that makes a difference as yes i was at the very least hopein to light up the leds on the crane jib but im afraid that the crane will have to be static but all i can do at the moment is try an find out where the power drain is an hope if i do away with the 4 mini 6v fans an some other things that are not nessacery im hopein to cure what the problem is but the build is on hold till i find that it should all run for at least an hour before the batt is down but it may be a combination of things or as Gerry said may be a bad batt but its a new one so for now its experiment time but pic below may be the trouble VOLTAGE REDUCER is an old one an if not then i'll try other things

AN HI Gerry i dint know these posts were on till i just looked this morn so sorry for a late reply but me an jen whatched TERMINATOR -2 last night so i was not online AN YES i have a multi meter not sure how it works though as i just use it to check voltages but as ive said before im not very good at eletronics as all this wireing IS just circuts an jump circuts goin through knock on switches by servo power fitted with in line fuses so if any thing wrong it will just blow the fuse as i keep the assecory fuses low like 3 to 5 amps an ive never had this problem before SO i maybe out of my depth here though.
As i must admit ive never treid to run (ALTHOUGH I HAD LOADS OF WORKING IN MY NIMITZ AIRCRAFT CARRIER AN NO PROBS) so many things so really this whole ship is one big experiment so i will try an get it working as best i can as again an im not very happy with them ESC on the four motors as they dont look beefy enough to handle the power of up to 40 amps goin through them so they might let me down also as yes they run ok but it will be different when there is a water load on the props so they will draw more power AN MAYBE just melt in place just as well ive designed this to take 2 BATTS an i may have to buy some more ESC 'S an i'll say this its getting bloomin exspensive lol
