Chris, if I may ask about your hearing, do you also wear hearing aids, or is it more than that?
Please tell me to mind my own business if I am being rude asking.Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.Comment

Thank you for understanding Chris, I too have worn a pair of hearing aids for the past 20 years, after a lifetime in the construction industry and a spell in the army, my hearing is pretty shot as well.
I learned to lip read, and enunciate properly a long time ago, as my son started going deaf at about age 5, and he has had to wear powerful hearing aids all his life. Today he told us that at last he is going to have a cochlea implant, as his hearing is now virtually non existent, he is 49 this year.
I am very proud of him, he didn't let his disability affect him, accepted that he had a problem, decided that it would not hold him back, and he became a successful solicitor.Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.Comment

I fully understand Chris, I was like that as well, then I found out that by telling people up front that I am deaf, and struggle to hear them, and they need to talk directly to me so I can read their lips, for the most part people have been very accomodating, and it helped me immensely.
I used to get frustrated by noisy environments as well, but new hearing aids with proper tuning and adjustment helped with that.Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.Comment
