    Artesania Latina Cutty Sark

Hi all i bought this off my brother (he decided it was too frustrating for him) there are a few problems to sort out on it (I need to strip the decking off and square the frame up , it's a bit warped) he took the planking off which has saved me a job (he bought some really thin wood for the planking as he struggled with the supplied wood but it's so thin I can see it disappearing when sanded do I'm going to use the supplied wood) here are some pics, I've managed to get the deck off fairly easily getting the wood off the deck and squaring the frame may be quite a bit harder.
This will be a very slow build.

Hi chris barring bowsprit (not added yet) she's a yard long, it's a very impressive kit.

Hi all well I've removed the deck planking squared up the frame and are attached the front decking. I thought I would get away with doing nothing to the rear deck but on closer inspection I think he put the last 2 bulkhead the wrong way round since the second to last is narrower than the last (the phrase one step forward 2 back comes to mind) anyway I managed to get the rear deck off now I'm not sure what to do the frames seem to be impossible to unglue, any suggestions (I've tried steaming over a kettle but they won't budge) would it hurt the plywood if I soaked the stern in a bucket over night.

            Hi Ken
Quite a task you have set yourself. I imagine these wooden ships are long term projects. It certainly looks as if those two bulkheads are the wrong way round. Rather than try to remove them and risk damage could you saw/sand a little off the last one and add a little to the narrow one? Just a thought.

HI Ken Jim is right as ive had to do this on most of my ship 's scratch built hulls as the plans are not a 100% right an some time the hull frames are bigger or smaller than they should be It happend on my tiger build as my plans were 3mm out by the time the hull frame is drawn an cut out it goes either way.So out comes the dremel to put the hull frame to rights also you wont have to risk damageing the keel an to build the hull frame up to its correct size I use hard balsa which is easy to work on

Thanks guys, I think that's the way I'm going on this. I will measure the widest one and the smallest then add to the smallest and remove from the widest.

Good luck with this build , I'll be watching with interest. I started one of these last year and put it away as I have been travelling a lot and worry it's a bit too much above my skill level! Click image for larger version

I am watching because I have their HMS Surprise as my retirement project.- WAY out of my league and experience(never built a ship....) but something I've always wanted to do.
                        good luck

Thanks guys, more the merrier. I've built a few scratch built ships but only one wooden ship kit Amarti I think. The brumer yacht.
Nothing like this if it had been an unstarted kit I think it would be at the limit of my skill set, this will be a huge challenge.
