I haven't delved into the bag of bits yet, but being an old kit, I'm expecting the worst. So I'll probably be joining you in the 'Tearing Hair Out.' Club!

    Hi Ron

Do not look to close, i know its a very old kit with awful mouldings and fit but i should have done much better, its not a pretty sight lol. If it was not for your help and support it would have been bined a week ago lol

      Tony,
Glad to have you along. To be honest, I too had a .177. My dad bought it for me when he bought himself a .22. He 'lent' his gun to me to 'Sink the Bismark'. I was shooting at it from my bedroom window whilst he filmed it all.....Why his .22? The slugs wouldn't reach the ship using my .177!

      Bob.
Thank you. I was only too glad to be of some help. Now you are earning your stripes with Nelson, your KG5 will be a breeze. It goes together really well and makes up into a cracking model. Trust me, you will enjoy the build.
Awful mouldings? Just wait 'til you see my Bismark's!

      Onwards and upwards......

      Thanks again chaps.
      Ron

Flashtastic mate. Looking at that it’s probably time the old Airfix stuff was retired. I actually wish they would update some of their old ship kits to modern standards. Nobody else makes as many British ships, but the moulds are tired out.

I would have to agree a,Tim, at least 1 600 is a nice size for my peepers

I agree It’s a good scale. 1/1200 is the old ship recognition model scale and is also the size of all the drawings in the Janes fighting ships books. Airfix just made the models twice that size.

Take too much to sort out the very old moulds or lack of demand due to 1 700??

Yep, it would. 1/700 is harder on the eyes though........

Totally agree, I find it hard enough with 1:350 scale.

Thanks for the input boys. :thumb2:

Sorry Tim, I missed your question about the 1/1200 Bismark I built. I've just found out I never actually made a sea diorama with just Bismark on it. The one I did make, included the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen. when they joined forces and broke out into the North Atlantic....

I've rectified the situation and just finished a little seascape featuring the diddy Bismark on her lonesome.....
Here's a photo from that build. I'll post the rest over in 'Ships Completed' asap.
Cheers and thanks for the timely reminder.
