    Stage 5 nearly complete
Added touch ups to main hull along with some detail painting started on the roof with the 1st stage of painting and laying out the walkways
Also painted the main doors outside and added the BR blue stripe to all areas including the control cabin also started on the engines which if done correctly the pylons should be able to rotate along with the propellers we will see anyway that’s all for now

    Regards

            Stage 5 complete
So I have finally finished the interior and the roof of the SRN4 with exception of the propeller pylons and the propellers
Last to be done will be the lifeboats and various bits to be mounted on the outer hull I’d like to add more detail to the lifeboats ie the fastening rings but I don’t think my skill is up to painting thin rings around them as I struggled with the walkways on the roof and while we are on the subject of the roof let’s just say it fits where it touches I’m not going to force it into place it can just sit on top this model always suffered from a lousy fitting roof anyway and I’ve built 4 previous to this one in my years and none of them had roofs that fitted you either had a gap at the top of the cabin sidewalls or you glued the cabins sidewalls to the roof and had a gap at the bottom where the cabins didn’t line up with the hull and required masses of filler not going down this route as it will screw up the model completely
Despite using pin striping tape to lay the walkways they still needed touching up in places by hand and I seem to have a tremble in my hands when trying to hold things really still and concentrate part of getting old I suspect anyway I’ve done to the best of my ability so hope you like it

            Regards

As Tim said an interesting build but not an easy one by the looks of it. Keep up the great work.

                      Stage 6 complete the roof
So I have now completed the roof to the best of my ability including the control cabin point of note for anyone building this the control cabin does not line up at the bottom you line it up at the top this because on the main roof there is a stepped up area will fills in the misalignment at the bottom
All the engine pylons and propellers subject to touching up the tips if required all that leaves to do now is the lifeboat canisters and the anchors decals and a final touch up where needed hopefully without making it worse sometimes it’s best to leave as is
I want to add more detail to the canisters to represent the metal fastenings which wrap around the circumference of the canister and a longitudinal one from end to end I have an idea which I will try out which does not involve trying to paint a tiny 1/2mm wide strip of paint around each canister twice a feat which is beyond me Click image for larger version

                          Stage 7 completed the model

So we have reached the final stage in this build namely finishing off and recalling
Added the lifeboat canisters and added extra detail by wrapping paper flower wire around the canisters to represent the metal banding I couldn’t do the longitudinal ones so gave up with those after adding the ladders to the upper deck all that was left to do was the recalling 2 of which totally disintegrated one of the engine pylon which I managed to salvage half of it and both the Seaspeed’s you’ll see one is missing from the clear side the other I made up a replacement using a drawing program on the pc and printing it out on white paper which was then trimmed as close to lettering as I could get the clear side one proved impossible represent without it looking awful so I left it out
The other thing is their is 1 handrail missing from the painted side no idea where that went or whether it was in the original box and finally the roof fit disastrous would be an understatement but as this is a cutaway type model I’ve just placed it on the top of hull as is no point trying to force it into place it has a longitudinal warp so it’s higher in the middle than at the ends which would place both parts the hull and the roof under a lot of pressure
All that leaves are the cars to be added and I might scratch build an observation booth for the car deck although I can’t seem to determine was this only added to the series 400 stretched versions which this not
Anyway I hope you like it as I always it’s not perfect but it’s the best I can manage given my skill set

                          Regards
