As odd as it sounds Cavalry Brown is a better colour than Hull Red. Another idea could be Vallejo's Red Primer, which can be had in large bottles. A couple of coats clear once cured and she'll be fine. As an aside Vallejo Acrylics are 100% water fast once cured/hardened. Several I know that only build RC Boats use them with no problems at all. (My only dislike for them on large ship models is the size of the bottles! )

Thanks for all you input Ian, it is done now and I'm happy with the result, the rattle can worked fine. You are right about the minuscule little bottles that Vallejo provide, it is really frustrating.

AH Garry thats more like it red primer is spot on as have you sprayed the grey sides yet an an if you have now for that fun bit the black water line as if its like on your ship like mine the whatch out as that water line is bigger at the bow end than the stern an i used tisue paper to get it right but it was a bugger all the same as the black water line is dead straight along the bottom but not the top as it curves up at the bow an my swear box was full after doin this but she comin on great very well done

Thanks Chris, yes I noted that the black is not parallel to the waterline, why I really don't know, but I will follow the plan. Let the games begin lol.

Further progress, the black stripe at the waterline has been painted, and I'm pretty happy with the result. That was a lot of masking and re-masking, I'm glad it's done :smiling:
All in, about 6 coats of each colour has been sprayed on.
All that really needs doing is the clear-coat, but that will only be done later.

Yes Chris, good plans though.
After a lifetime in the construction field as a project manager, I acknowledge that I didn't know how to build a school, hospital, MOD facility or factory until I had actually built one, then each one became progressively easier.
There is nothing like actually trying. One of my bosses told to JFDI (just flipping do it}, although not as polite as that

I received the plans for the ship on the 14th May 2022 so about 8 months so far.
There is still plenty to do yet, if only my deliveries would arrive it would help.
That has been my main frustration, not being able to source items in NZ, I have to import far too much and it takes forever to get here.
