          Garry .
Probably a good thing that your both not going to use the same boating lake when there finished as there would be nothing else left floating !

Great to watch, I agree with Jim about the electrics , that is indeed a black dark art !

YES John my ole nimtz aircraft carrier used to mow them down anything in the way as it took so long to stop her end result several smaller vessels deep sixed an yes John eletrics is a very dark art as ive been fitting them in my ships for 30 odd yrs an im still struggleling to understand how the eletrics works

an ive just heard from the gent who is makin my gun fire an gun flash unit an wow its not goin to be easy im afraid as what he told me is a bit complex if i understand him correctly an not a small unit either as he said the plastic box it all comes in is 4 an a half inches long an dont know the wheight but i hope not to heavy but at that length it will be a job to find space in the hull to fit it as in it there is a sound generator unit 'a timer unit 'an a amplefiyer unit ' an a maybe 4 inch speaker so a complex unit i only hope i can understand how to wire it all up an hope you had your breakfast in bed lol

I visited the lake at a local town today, and they were having the NZ National Radio Sailing Championship for RC yachts, I believe that they are the IOM class, and they are 1m long, with the event lasting for 3 days.
The competition was fierce as you can imagine.
I had a chat with one of the local organisers to see whether my frigate would be allowed to sale on their lake, and was pleased to say he said it would be fine, and he was also keen to see the ship. He was impressed that she is nearly twice the length of their yachts.
So in time I know where I will be sailing HMS Iron Duke.

I built an IOM class a while back, but lack of local facilities means it's stuck at the back of a garage somewhere.
It probably wouldn't be a winner though but it was a learning experience.

Yeah, cut from balsa, strip planked hull then glassed over, carbon fibre keel and rudder, casting the lead keel bulb was fun, first go the mould wasn't 100% dry......sort of went bang.
Race winning boats are fibreglass made from a mould like the real things.

Chris the lake is quite large, it's about 14 hectares in total apparently, and pretty shallow being man made, so it is very calm.

That's some really nice scratchy work going on there Noah Garry...Real nice to hear you now have a place to sail her when she's finished. I guess sailing her in the bathtub wouldn't be too successful, would it!!!...

                          Prost
