HI Bri cheers for your reply as ive been wondering what went there now i know the catapults brilliant modeling very well done Sir an are you not goin to fit some 1/200 crew figures on her as that would bring her to life ? as i think you can get them as i was goin to get some 1/350th crew figures for my USS ENTERPRISE but could not afford it at the time

WOW, WOW,WOW superb. interesting design concept - seems all the other countries spread the weapons and structures along the hull, where the Yamato had everything in one 'lump' maybe easier to defend but a good couple of hits and everything goes up in one go. Also seems a lot of hassle for a single plane to be launched and recovered.

Simply outstanding Brian. As Steve said interesting to see the concentration of secondary armament and AA guns around the centre!

                  Keep up the great work.

YES Bri i do see your point as it was bloomin hard on my 1/72 figures for my tiger but i dont know how good your eyes are as ive seen people fit 1/350 figures on a enterprise an that really set off the starship an brought it to life

There is a hanger under the flight deck which housed 6 planes

She only shot down 16 planes out of 150 attacking aircraft according to what I could find out before she was sunk by 19 torpedo's obviously didn't work having all the AA guns central as the attacks fore and aft couldn't be countered.

Trouble is, by the time she was built she was a very large white elephant. The world had moved on and her outdated design brief was to defend against big guns rather than aircraft. The armoured belt was supposed to enable her to stand in a line of battle slugging it out with other similarly armed ships, and the central island concept enabled all the important bits to be put behind the armoured belt without the weight overloading the hull. Other nations did the same thing, France and Britain, for example. Any battleship built after about 1930 was really a waste of resource. Strategically the Japanese would have been far better served building a few more carriers, but then military thinking always seems to fight the previous war until it’s rudely awaken by contact with the enemy…..

Doesnt stop her being extremely imposing and this being a superb build though
