Good job mark, on the Tashkent I added the railings last after painting. I assume the superstructure decks are the same colour as the sides?

Ive decided im going to try and add as much of the railings as i can before painting as i would do them after and end up with chipped railings and ca everywhere. If i paint the tops a different colour it will be after the sides and ill just spend some time carefully masking. The instuctions would have me paint the all the top surfaces including decks in dark sea grey, from what ive read online a lot of people suggest this is wrong and if its not im painting the wood decks tan anyway.Click image for larger version

Ive got some deck tan on, this will get a coat of clear then washed and weathered before being sealed and masked for the rest of the hull painting. The deck doesn'look quite so yellow just my rubbish picture taking.
A couple of structures in colour, again a coat of clear then washed and weathered before fitting to the deck.Click image for larger version

It's a shame when you have to cover all that lovely PE with paint looking good though!!

Excellent PE work Mark. Working out and adjusting the uprights on PE railings is always difficult. Looks as if yours are sorted.

                Looking very good Mark.
I see you have learnt very quickly the "start at the end of the rails that have the most bends in or the fitted lengths" lol. I learnt this trick AFTER I tried gluing railings to a painted deck. Did not end to bad. Jut had to start again and repaint the deck.

Thanks Ian, should have been a perfect fit think trumpeter got their measurements wrong, that was the only place i could cut and join,if i folded that end first and cut down the other end i would have been half way between the uprights

                      Hi Mark
i’ve always done ’paint first PE after’ where railings are concerned. Having seen the fit you’ve achieved (despite the obligatory mistake on a long run) I think I will try this approach on my next build. Looking good.

Didn’t mean your mistake. Meant that the PE always throws up a wrong fit somewhere.

Cheers,Ive usually done it after painting but i always drop it out the tweezers and end up with a blob of ca somewhere i dont want it,there will be some parts that will have to be fitted after painting but after watching some u tube vids of people doing it this way thought i would give it a try.
