ID:	1198102 The rear mast was moulded a bit wobbly and was very flexible, was never gonna take any rigging without bending all over the place so i decided to have a go at scratching one. Using brass rod, evergreen tube ,some pe and a small part of the the original mast i came up with this!Click image for larger version

Bit more tidying but quite pleased with it so far should look ok with some primer and paint hopefully, may have to do some work with the forward mast yet but ill worry about that when i get there.

I love this era of warships, especially cruisers, and you're making a fine job of it Mark. I have floaty thing to build for a friend (USS Gambler Bay) but fortunately he doesn't want PE, just OOB; I hate PE and certainly couldn't get anywhere near your standard if I had to apply it!

Having a look at the forward mast it was just as flimsy as the rear one so had a go at sorting it ,made a new one using 1mm, 0.8 and 0.5mm brass rod ,some 0.5 aluminium sheet and a little bit of pe offcuts and theres a bit of the original mast in there too.not finished yet, with the aid of a cordless drill and various sanding sticks and papers ive started tapering the yard arms.Click image for larger version

Just had a catch up Mark and I'm impressed. The etch work is very neat and so worth while. Mast looks great.
