Ta Allen, once the primers on, that will hold everything together and hopefully, will not have any stuff dropping off all over the place. Not done anything this large using this technique.

A quick question Si, Are you using white glue to put the crusty's on and then spraying white glue over it to hold it in place? Or are you doing it another way?
Life's to short to be a sheep...

I use undiluted PVA, brush on and pour, chuck the stuff on. I find that I do not need to apply a second coat of glue over the top as it gets a primer coat, this will seal the gunk in place.

Superb stuff Si. The star turn in one of my favourite war films. Very realistic crusty work on a film icon. You could have entered this in the current GB you know

You know something Tim, I totally forgot about it. To be honest, I do not tend to go in for the group/themed builds, mainly due to my disability-time scale and how they may turn out.

Chuffed like the crusty so far.

No problem Si. You play with what you want, when you want, and how you want. I’ll just sit here cheering you on mate :thumb2:

                  UPDATE:

She has now got some colour and the first round of weathering, come of the colours look harsh due to the flash.

Mixture of airbrush, sponging, dry brushing and pigments.

There is a load more to add to tone and blend.

Stand made and I did a miscalculation as the cutouts for the bilge and keel now do not fit as snug due to the crustyness...I never learn. Anyway, here is a pic of the boat and stand-this was varnished and stained to look old.

                          Big pic for Chris.

I watched 'The Cruel Sea' on TV whilst preparing a roast dinner for my Outlaws yesterday - some cracking shots of a Flower Class corvette - the 'Compass Rose' I thought of your masterpiece when she was torpedoed - lovely work mate!

I watched that as well, and thought exactly the same. Truly great film in my eyes. Trivia point…..the producer was Barry Norman’s (film 19xx presenter) Dad.
