      HI all

Well home again for a well earned rest after all the storms and back on with my build, in the last couple of days I have started the fiddly task of the rigging beginning with the foremast. I have put the small 3mm deadeyes on the upper part of the mast and the first shroud and also redone some of the blocks before continuing with the shrouds as I think it would cause me problems if I left them till later, I also intend doing the top half of the rigging before fixing the masts in place.

One thing I am noticing with the rigging plans and the colour plans and the booklet is some of the rigging is different and also some of the blocks shown on the rigging plans are not on the colour plans so I don’t know if I’m adding or missing blocks that I will need or not as time goes on ?.

Here are some more pics showing my progress so far all be it very slow and my photographic skills are much to be desired (may need some new batteries in it ).

Doing the ratlines i tied them on with a clove hitch and then put a drop of glue on each end before cutting of the excess twine.

Photos are a tad blurry Steve, but looks like you are making good progress.

Not much progress since my last update as this is taking me a long time as never done anything this intense before but want to get it looking the best I can and it all adds to the experience , I’ve now fixed the mast to the ship and as you can see I have started attaching the shrouds and also got myself a small vice to make life easier

              cheers steve

Looks good Steve, lots of detail rigging in that lot.

Re the camera, I have to ask as the photos are very difficult to look at again, is your lens clean? Or do you have it set on a time value or some other setting? Try giving the lens a clean and using an automatic setting just to see if that makes a difference. I'm sure others as well as myself would like to see your hard work in clarity.

yes im fiddling around with the settings trying to get it right its a new camera but what im doing just now is taking a few pics at a time loading em to see if things are better or worse,i think the last few pics have got abit better so fingers crossed and got some more to have a look at later and hope these will be better

i think these pics are better and as you can see not progressed very much but it is a fiddley job especially the ratlines tying clove hitches in each one all the way up but i am glad i ran the twine through the beeswax tho as this helps because i can squeeze the twine together after making the first turnmaking it less likely the twine will move as long as im careful with it

                              Hi folks

Cant believe its been nearly a year since i last updated my log, still been a busy time for me what with work and things getting in the way had to put the ship on the back burner but hopefully now i can get down to finishing this one and starting my next project.

I have invested in a 3 jaw self centering chuck for my lathe a set of digital callipers and bought a proxxon k230 bench saw which came the other day and not used yet but should be over the next day or so,anyway so today i set up my lathe and decided to have a go at making some of my own belaying pins as the ones supplied in the kit are plastic and im not happy with so here are a few pics of my attempt at making some 12mm belaying pins from tooth pics which i can get 3 from each one.
