I used gel super glue which dries within 10 - 20 secs, which gives you a bit of wiggle room. I also used thinned PVA, as I did with the Warspite, which stuck just as well, but took a lot longer to dry.

Thanks for that Graham, as I am doing the KGV in 1945 the degaussing cable had been repositioned internally, so no problem their, but my come across it in the future. You have done a very neat job of yours. Cheers DerekComment

A bit of an update. The decks have got their laminate stuck on, and the lower hull has been primed. The deck laminate, made by Hunter, is very thin, about 1/2 as thick as a Prontos deck laminate, and does not come off the backing very easily, so in some places I had to use glue to stick it on. The registration is good and fits well.
The upper hull is slightly warped, as can be seen, but an elastic band should sort it out, as well as being a bit wide, so the deck peices do not fit properly . The rear deck is also warped.
The out of focus is due to takeing the pictures on auto, instead of aperture priority at F22.

Finished replacing the hatches with PE ones, not a quick job, also I discovered that one of the Hood name plates has the D the wrong way round. Its not clear on the photo, but when its painted, it won't show too much.

The Hood. A just beautiful looking ship. This looks a big project Graham. I like big projects and you learn a lot about the subject.
Both her and the Bismark went to the same place. Shame. Save for a lucky shot she would be have given a good fight. Same with the Bismark a lucky strike stopped her the good old Swordfish. An amazing duel form beggining to end.
Look forward to seeing this ship. I was 3 years old at the time but cannot recall the incident.

A bit of an update. the super structure is coming along. with the break waters fitted. Needs another coat of paint on the break waters. The upper part of the superstructure is on placed on, that is why it looks as though it doesn't fit properly. Black shading is brought out by the photo. It isn't that obvious in reallity

Thanks for the comments. I agree Alan, the decks do help make the boat. I've seen the 1/200th Bismark, the only problem is the size of the model. Currently I can only make models no larger than the Hood as I am having problems fitting it on my desk!Comment
