    Missile launch Ohio SSBN project

I was inspired by Ebroin to jazz up my Ohio SSBN build. I started this model but had to wait for paints and switched to the Akula. Now I'm ready to proceed with this project.

I've decided to use a piece of sprue to support 4 LEDs, will add the missile and some cotton for smoke.

The sub will be mounted on this base.

I've routed out the center of the bottom piece.

I've converted a Stanley 100pack razor container hold my launch button.

This is with the base and components mounted. Next, I will stain the wood, then continue working on the model seams.

This is the look I am going for. Will need to find a good rocket launching sound, too.

Made some progress. Did a lot of sanding on the seam, hopefully it will not be too pronounced when I paint.

Finished the base and electrical, tested the circuits, all worked fine.

Can't put it off any longer, now it's time to... paint! Hope it goes smoothly. :cold-sweat:

                Hi boatman,

yes sir, you should be able to see the images at full size by clicking on them, yes? I believe this forum allows thumbnails so the thread isn't miles long. But let me know if this is not the case and clicking on the small image does not give you the full size image.

                thanks!
                Neal

Looks like something Al Queda would make, yeah?

I just received the Dragon USS Florida model, it's the same as the Ohio with an additional shellback as needed, so I will steal the decals from it and hopefully have some finished pictures soon.

OH Neal brilliant work i love to see something working an them leds light up the missels flames just right pity you dont do your subs in a bigger scale say 1/350th but i love this work what you have done now i can see it proper as when a member puts the pics on in thumbnail pics an when i try the enlarge my laptop cuts off half the pics so full pics is better
                        cheers chrisb
