Thanks Andy. In my impatience, i decided to ignore all the suggestions above...and try the metalwork/jewellery route. I initially dismissed the idea, but then had a go.

Some copper wire, bent round a thick paintbrush, snipped at the join and then soldered and filed down. Used some plastic strip to make the spokes and topped off with a Meng nut. Slightly out of scale I'm sure, but I'm actually pretty happy. Just need to make a couple more now.
Your solution there has a much more rounded look to it than those I showed,so you've saved yourself a lot of filing

Great work Jack. I was going to suggest model railway suppliers, looking for cab or smokebox hand wheels, but you‘ve more than nailed it now.Comment

I bought this, mistakenly assuming there may be some technical diagrams or some such, but it's beyond useless for the Conning Tower internals. A grand total of three limited photos.
So making this up as I go (shock)! It's surprisingly difficult (for me) to conjure gizmos. Everything other than the darker grey boxes I have added myself. And I think it's only half as busy as it should be.

Thanks Scottie, the pics I have found show not an inch of bare wall. Still need a few more instruments at least.
That would be really helpful Pete, yes please.
Thanks Bob!Comment

My Gawd Jack!!! Epic work, and you want to add even more things in there? That's some fantastic scratchery you've done Sir. It looks busier than the L.A. freeway at rush hour!!!...

I've found this site - maybe a bit of overkill! http://www.tvre.org/en/aiming-with-the-periscope - a very complicated site!!!
