      Hi all,
For those interested the crowd funding has at 0940 hours reached over £40,000.00, maybe this not only will help the club rebuild and restore but will also restore some faith in our fellow humans.
      regards Jim

These are terribly sick people...even burglars have some respect for nice things...I mean they have an eye for the good stuff. I can only blame the parents and the situation the world is currently in. Nobody sees anything until the bad side of human nature exposes itself. Counselling would be useless unless these vandals are still very, very young which I doubt it.
I feel sad for the club members and builders...I build dioramas and know the time and execution to detail that these exhibits must have taken. The stigma of fearing to exhibit again for them will linger and hope it passes.

What gets me is that must have took some serious effort and time to do that amount of destruction.
          It just makes me sick.

Overnight security for all exhibitions now? Insurance? The modern world.

A suggestion I read elsewhere is that these selfish idiots should be made to do litter picking or similar community service, the number of hours to be commensurate with the time the builders invested in these models. Sadly a mild telling off seems more likely.

Over here our club will insist on night security for our displays failing which volunteer members would spend the night watching over the displays. I remember volunteering and staying overnight at the local Airforce base even with security on detail. We were provided with campbeds and blankets.

Horrendous! Not sure how far money will go, my Dad builds trains as his hobby, and scratch built these recovery carriages (example picture), an unbelievable feat of modelling and engineering, and money would not replace them.

Four have been arrested at a school..

The four have since been released on conditional police bail pending further inquiries.

Probably told not to do it again.

Reported that one piece was worth £8000. But you cannot buy a heartache remedy.

How about giving the club members 20 minutes with the little (--------) games consoles / mobile phones to give them a tiny example of how the club feels

Community service & a lot of it. On the days they watch football etc.

Not sure it will get through but a talk to the club members they trashed
in front of the media with the parents present.

Plus restriction to their own homes after 6:00pm for a long period of time.

Gee I would be ashamed if any of my 4 kids did this. But then they would not
they were taught kindness & care of others in this world. They are in their 40s
& 50s now but they have passed this on to my 4 grandsons. Great lads.

Total oxygen thieves. It is a symptom of today that there is no consequence to actions.

Sir Rod Stewart has said he is “absolutely devastated” following the destruction of a model railway exhibition in Stamford.

The singer (74) a model railway enthusiast, has announced he is donating £10,000 after the show was completely trashed by vandals.

Just shows how this has really upset people.
                              John.
                              ..

Just read on FB that people in the US are offering to build some models , and the money raised has topped £ 58,000.

Look at those grave stones that are vandalised overnight George, they too must take a lot of effort to uproot,it seems there is an element of mentally unstable sick people out there who like destroying other peoples property.
