    Sheringham 1940 Wk end

    WELL Jen an i a couple of freinds went to Sherigingham 1940 wk end an had a great time an now no disrespecktin the forces uniforms but Jen an our freind joss both wore a sort of play uniform for the day as jen was in the RAF an her freind i think in the army an MATRON ALSO turned up an there was thounds of people there all in their uniforms enjoyin the day an firstly a pic of matron an she had some sort of gadgets to stick in someone Aarrcchhh

          AN ABOVE Jen with her ration book an she had to get it stamped in differnt shops then hand it in to be in a grand draw which she did an every one put so much effort into their 1940 outfits so it was a grand day out

            That looks as if it was cracking day out. Makes me wish I hadn't thrown all my service kit out. I could have turned up as Leading Seaman Goldstein!!! :thumb2: :smiling2:

                HI Doug yes it was a pity but yes we really enjoyed the day what with all the vera lynn music an run rabbit run run an the sun shone only a light fine rain for a few mins

                        Oh dear, Naval chap, (Lieutenant) not in the correct rig. I believe WW2 officers wore a coloured stripe in-between their gold ones to show what specialisation they were. IE Red strip signified a medical officer, green - electrical and so on!!

                          YES Doug all the Glenn millar music an dancein in the street will post pics when i get to them as i took 2 hundred pics but my p/c wont take them all so i deleted them but still a lot to come

                              Twas only me being a pedant buddy. I certainly looked a brilliant day and, end of the day - who cares if the uniforms aren't spot on as long as folk had a good time.
                              I had a mate, (serving), who would dress up as an Admiral and used to stand on the bridge roof and take the salutes when passing other vessels. If they'd bothered looking they would have seen he had twice the number of rings than the Admiral of the Fleet.

                              A PS bit, The navy chap wasn't a real navy chap so it doesn't matter anyway!!! :thumb2: :rolling: :smiling5:
