I missed the big announcement. What was it?.The rumour going around was a 1/24 Defiant.....
The Big announcement was..... That the design team have been given a LIDAR scanner that will enable them to scan whole aircraft, tanks, cars and convert them to 100% accurate 3D models that can then be installed into their CAD program and turned into working models for the toolmakers....
The three 1/72 scale kits they had at the show where made using their new toy.
I laughed so hard, every one jumped to the conclusion that the big announcement was a new 1/24 scale kite.....lol
that is busy dave, bear in mind most of us spend all our free time sat alone at a desk playing with our plastic toys

Thanks for sharing, Dave - it's always good to be reminded how much better some other modellers do it! Would have liked to be there myself as it's not too far away, but was playing a gig in Glossop (which, at midnight, is too far away). Too many hobbies...

What puzzles me is that the model railway manufacturers have been doing this type of thing for years and producing some pretty damned good locomotives from the scans.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

I have a sneaky idea that Hornby have had something to do with this. It could be that the new design team at Airfix have seen/used one and got talking about the possibilities. I have a mate over her that uses one every day in his work. He has scanned everything from a 500 year old coin to a whole building!
The idea is great but it is limited to there being a subject in existence to scan...
Hey my rocket was next to that small see through one IMHO mine was better, ROFLAdrian
I've been there couple times but I haven't seen you. Got your rocket too, but picture was a bit blurry so I deleted it. My eye was sore after all those pictures taken
