    SMM Ship & Heli GB

Hi guys, recently our local modelling society held a GB on ships and helis last Saturday. Basically an open to members to bring and share what they had built including WIP's for displays. We were expecting only half the participants but many turned up and we had space problems so we squeezed in the displays. The LHS helped sponsor the venue and provided part of the lucky draw prizes and the rest came from members donation from their stash. There was a presentation on assembling with etch metal and also on 3D printing. Here are the pics of the small event...

Thank you Richard. It looks like it was a successful event.
I'm not a floaty things guy, but I'm always fascinated by the skills of those sailing that part of the Great Modelling Ocean. :smiling3::thumb2:

Nice selection of models, Richard - interesting to see the split between full-hull and waterline vessels.
I've been tempted to try a waterline sailing ship, as all the models I see have the ship on an even keel, running before the wind. I'd like to make one with a more realistic heel & the sails trimmed for a reach - but every time I start planning, I realise that it's a bit beyond my abilities!

Just slightly different approach to building Andy but still assembled with glue.

I'm hoping to do the same with my Constipation but I'm in two minds with the sails up or down. If its sails up then it'll be in calm waters but to do like what you're thinking then sails down, full and trimmed with the realistic heel. Figures would be needed then.

I'm surprised myself by the number of ship builders in our society. They all suddenly emerged from the cracks and some pretty good too. Many have become less scared of PE due to the experience of the GB.

                Cheers,
                Richard

Like I replied to Jim, I was surprised by the new guys. I already know the old guys are some of the best ship builders in our society or perhaps country. Hard to keep up with their prolific output. Will do.

                  Cheers,
                  Richard
