    RAF Museum Hendon

Visited the museum today and came away with more than 600 photos.

For those who are in a position to visit, as part of the preparations for the RAF centenary in 2018 they are currently doing a full survey of the condition of the aircraft in the Battle of Britain Hall.  This means a lot of aircraft in various states of being dismantled, wing off, engine covers off, panels removed etc.

as it is free entry it is well worth the visit.  Fairly poor quick photo from my phone it will be a couple of days before I can load the ones from the camera to my computer.

    Hi Dave

As it happens I was there last weekend.

Yes, the aircraft in various states of dismantle is really interesting. Of note is the 109 - able to stand on it's own undercarriage despite having no wings. This design feature (the undercarriage integral to the fuselage) was to enable aircraft to be packed on rail cars for transport.

The museum is really excellent and I urge anyone to go. It's surprisingly tiring once you've been round all the halls. I forget how many times I've been over the years but I never tire of it. This time round my focus was on the GR.3 Harrier but, as always, I poured over all the exhibits - it's just fabulous.

I'll post some of my shots once I've download them.

Look forward to seeing yours Dave

    Cheers
