1/32 Lancaster due soon and..... a 1/32 B24 Liberator

No links but HKM has issued the box art for their 1/32 Lancaster being release within the next couple of months.

Also it seem Hobbyboss are going to beat them to it with a 1/32 B24....

I really need to buy my own aircraft hanger....

I've lost count how many kits Trumpeter have announced the last couple of days but it's almost silly, and Hobby Boss have also just announced a whole load too where no less than 4 are King Tigers in 1/35 scale so we can be pretty sure 2018 is going to be a stash increasing year...
I've seen plenty of air planes in the lists of new kits coming out too apart from all the armour (and ships) so modelling is getting more and more popular again - which is nice!

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that someone is going to release a SR-71 Blackbird in larger scale and with high quality, but that's probably going to remain a dream because there's no talk about anything...

Until the Halifax comes out....
Not promised yet but with Hobbyboss joining the 4 engine 1/32 scale bomber club its only a matter of time before they or HKM bring one out.

Personally I would love a B24 and Halifax even more than a B17 and Lanc. I just need to sort out a wall big enough to display them one.

Personally, I know my opinion is going to be controversial and maybe a little extreme, but the majority of us will never have the space for such an unconventional model. Im just relievedZoukei Mura saw that, and created 1/48 versions of their models. Not to mention, these models are extremely expensive. I, myself like 1/32 models, and will occasionally get these (I recently bought the ZM He 219 in 1/32), but as stated already, these manufacturers need to create models which we can afford as well. The HK Lanc is going to be very very pricey. My question is why didn't they make a 1/32 109G, of which there is a gap to have an accurate model?
Also, another thing which riles me is Tamiya, which released a mossie the same time as HK Models in 1/32 of all things! Their 1/48 kit is outdated and I would love to see a newly tooled mossie in 1/48. The same goes for their new 1/48 109G-6. We already have Eduard's brilliant 109G and E series, which us modellers are more than happy with. They could had updated their F-14 in 1/32. It is like they want to compete against each other pointlessly other than producing models which the masses need. The same goes for ZM and HK, who produced a Do 335, both at pretty expensive prices. We need a 1/48 Do 335, not two 1/32 Do 335s.
Sorry if this rant riles you yourself, but this is my personal view.
Bottom line is that manufacturers should stop trying to outdo each other and actually produce models which we need.

Actually John I agree with much of what you said. Tamiya will do what Tamiya wants to do. They never tell people what they are going to release until just before they release it and no-one expected the two 1/32 Mossies to be released so close together and I expect it was a shock to them as well. They are both great kits though and I enjoyed building the HKM one and will be doing the Tammy soon. I thought their 1/48 kit of this was a good one if not up to current standards though... There are, in my view, too many 109's and no decent Hurricane in 1/32!!!! ZM do seem to specialise in a lot of lesser known aircraft, good for them and it is good that they are releasing 1/48 and 1/32 kits.. At the end of the day though it is a competitive market and companies will not co-ordinate releases and we cannot expect them to do so. However frustrating it is for us at times...

Very frustrating when, as you said, we are looking for certain kits, but it just seems that they are doubling up and competing, rather than producing kits we need...

Competition is a good thing as it drives innovation and keeps prices down. It also fills needs and with multiple companies competing to fill those needs it will happen but just not as quick as perhaps we would want... identifying needs and wants drive the market.

Large kits aren't for everyone (although I suspect most of you secretly wish you could have display cabinets in every room of your houses ).
For me it's an opportunity to have almost a museum piece at home, and if built with a custom display cabinet it can be made into a centre piece of any living room!

This is how I'm treating my upcoming Dora (Schwerer Gustav) diorama. The footprint of the custom display cabinet will be the size of a small door or something like that.
If done correctly (not saying that I can/will - but I will try my best) it can rival a fine piece of art - and to be honest, scale models are pieces of art to me!

I've tried a couple of 1/72 scale kits but on their own they're just too small for my taste. 1/35 scale is about the smallest for my tanks to still be visible when they're displayed.
I would build 1/16 scale tanks if they weren't so expensive and few. The larger 1/35 tanks like the King Tiger, E-100 and the Maus are good sizes because you can clearly see them from a distance.

Luckily there are so many kits from 1/144 to 1/16 (and bigger) to suit everyone and I'm just grateful for each and every good kit that comes out!

If I owned such a big model, I would consider putting it on a wall, with its wheels on the wall as though it was the ground, perhaps without any sort of frame or mounting surface. I have experimented with my (much smaller) spitfire and it looks pretty good. Or hang it from the ceiling in a room (after consultation with Another).

What would really make my year is a 1/32 Do17Z - that would complete the Blitz bombers nicely!
