New realease to come- Tamiya F-35 in 1/32

While the results of a Tamiya 1/32 F-35 will undoubtedly be superb, I am left wondering why the hell they are doing an F-35 when Italeri just released a reasonably priced and very well detailed and building model?
I had a rant on this issue a few weeks ago.
Tamiya just doesn't get it. We want other models. Not the duplicates which undoubtedly be more expensive. Do an F-14 or an F-4 in 1/32, or even better, that 1/32 109G which no manufacturer has properly nailed.

Actually John I think Tamiya are releasing the Italeri F35 under their branding in Japan and it is not a new Tamiya developed kit. I am not sure if its available outside Japan in the Tammy box and it represents a JDF version of the plane. Tamiya have released a number of Italeri kits in Japan under a deal they have. I dont think the moldinf is up to Tammy's 'in-house' standard.

Are you sure? I have never heard of Tamiya ever doing that

Just did some research. It seems you are right. But, why bother doing this in the first place? Tamiya decals are dicey and the italeri ones are cartograph, a lot better.

They've done it plenty of times and they still do...

Tamiya does this when they can see a local market but not enough to cover the cost of tooling a new mould.
A thing that gave me much amusement was "The excellent Tamiya Stuka" which was much better than the poorly fitting Italeri effort" That some bought both to see which was the better was even funnier. That which was totally hilarious, was when they started pointing out errors in the Italeri kit that were much better in the Tamiya one....
