How do retailers work out what to stock?, if two manufacturers push out the same model............. order both, and perhaps be left with one make that is unfashionable/unprofitable/unsaleable? Wait for reviews before deciding -and risk competition getting sales first?
The more choice we modellers have, the more difficulty of deciding what to stock must become. Of course, the LHS is between a rock and a hard place, so it's hardly surprising so many have vanished....................

How about the M18 Hellcat? Made a bunch in WWII, were pretty effective due to low profile, high speed & good range, but I haven't seen many modeled. None in braille scale to my knowledge. Certainly not rare at 2507 delivered. PaulE

Armourfast made the Hellcat in 1/72, but that was more a wargaming piece, there are several resin M18s in 1/72, Wespe & Milicast. In 1/35, Academy & AFV Club made injection moulded models and Accurate Armour made a resin version. Not sure about availablity, but they're out there

100% agreed. It’s really a case of modellers being spoiled a bit, I think — there are now kits of things that twenty, thirty years ago nobody would ever have expected to see as a plastic kit, yet what happens? People complain that <favourite obscure subject> hasn’t been released yet.

Not complaining but I want a plastic injection molded Abermarle. :smiling6:

I was not aware of the Wespe & Milicast models.

Since you appear to like sprucing up poorly detailed small-scale models, Wespe should be right up your alley

I was thinking more generally than just of the M18 76-mm GMC, which I did notice Wespe doesn’t make.

Jakko, I have used 1/87 Wespe before, but like you said, they have all required a lot of work. It is strange to me that in some areas the model is very well done, where other areas are not modeled at all or are of inferior quality. All of the ones I've used have these three levels of quality in the same model. Very frustrating when in a hurry, but not insurmountable when time permits. PaulE

I’ve never built any, but I’ve seen some unbuilt kits and browsed Wespe’s website, and that was enough to not really want to bother with these kits

At last! Something from a building site. Now, when do we start getting diggers, dump trucks, cranes etc. etc.?

I don't have an immediate use for this but I'll buy one anyway. If they don't sell, maybe there won't be any more construction stuff made. It's up to us to create the demand!
