    Yet another 1/32 Lancaster.... from....

    Wingnut Wings

    - apparently announced at a Japan Model show.

A Dambuster version too.... plus in 2019 other marks to come.

It clearly ties in with Peter Jackson (owner of Wingnut and the director of LOTR) having the rights to a Dambusters film re-make, but nevertheless what a surprise.

Two 1/32 Lancs being release within weeks of each other.

A few years ago I could not imagine a WW2 4 engined 'heavy' in 1/32 scale at all, people would have laughed at anyone suggesting it, now look what we have:

From HKM, two B17 versions and with a Lancaster being released in a month or so's time.
From Hobbyboss two B24 versions about to be released
From Wingnut Wings two Lancaster versions one this year and another next.

That is amazing and it must be a Halifax from one of them next, then what a Sunderland.... maybe.

What is particularly welcome is Wingnut Wings getting into WW2 1/32 scale aircraft, yet another high quality manufacturer producing WW2 kits in the 'grown up' scale can only be a good thing.

At first I thought the Wingnut Wings Lanc would be a collaberation with HKM but apparently not....

Wow, what a great time to be a modeller of 1/32 aircraft.

Has anyone got an aircraft hanger going spare as I think I will need a new hobby space?

Hmmm... where to put everything? I imagine 1/32 scale is a real headache in that department.

      Hi Barry
I shall enjoy watching you build it :smiling5: Lottery win and home extension first though. If it is up to the quality of their WW1 kits it will be stunning.

Use the old-fashioned method: hanging on string from the ceiling

Aircraft in 1/32 appeal to me, and when I was young I built a few of the Matchbox ones (the Spitfire, Bf 109 and Dauntless — which I think I spied in Barry’s collection as well) but now I don’t have the room for even one of those, never mind a plane the size of a Lancaster …

It was the Trumpeter 1/32 Dauntless, a great kit. One built as a Banshee and the other as a RNZAF aircraft.

The HKM B17 came with a good display solution and it would be surprising if these other heavies from Wingnut and Hobbyboss don’t as well, a wall mounting which fixes into the bomb bay. You just need a good wall to fix them to.

I didn’t know there were any others than the Matchbox kit Still, seeing it gave me fond memories of building that one.

                I think Trumpeter are planning a 1/48 B36. Should be a monster.
Too big for our little dwelling.

It’s not like you can’t build a wall mount yourself, though. Some kind of lamp bracket from a furniture store maybe, slightly modified, and a hex nut, bit of tube or something epoxied in the model should do the trick. The question, to me anyway, is more: Why would you mount a model on the wall in the first place? Then again, a “flying” 1/32 scale Lancaster is likely to be somewhat unbalanced if you put it on a stand with a base.

Wouldn’t last long if you get any visitors. The other day I showed one of my tanks to someone, and after I set it down on the coffee table, he took a closer look at it — grabbing it with his hand from above in the way you would a toy car. Luckily there was nothing there that could really break, but I’m glad this was a Churchill tank and not something with side skirts, flimsy mudguards, or stowage racks along the sides.

That looks like a superb kit the detail looks phenominal.

Certainly does. Way beyond my modelling talents. Can't wait for it to be released and seeing some builds
