Gary hi, saw one on display exactly like yours description at the Peterborough Show this year. As a cut away model I thought it looked good .

ICM have the habit of putting up 'provisional' pictures of upcoming models, then releasing the proper boxart ( and name! ) later

Looks a highly dodgy set up to me - all that combustible stuff, and not a patch of armour!

No worries, it has two water cans on the front to put out any accidental fires with

Yes, it was a rather crazy idea at the time and was the brainchild of Major Vladimir Peniakoff (nicknamed "Popski"), a Polish officer serving with the LRDG in Africa. He worked directly under Monty and had 100 troops under his command, They were known as Popski's Army. After the end of the desert campaign, he was transferred to Italy. His army now consisted of almost 200 troops. Fighting in Italy was totally different from the wide open spaces of the desert. The Germans were masters of defence using bunkers and the Italian terrain. Popski realized that combating these obstacles were mostly left to Bren carriers armed with flamethrowers. They offered armored protection against small arms, but were not very maneuverable. He came up with a highly mobile solution nicknamed "The Wasp"………………..

Unfortunately tests showed that the blowback from the flamethrower could seriously injure the occupants. That as well as the lack of protection of the compressed air and napalm tanks were a problem. It was never tried in combat due to no one in his army volunteering to operate it. I wonder why????????

M108 Howitzer = I always think that the gun looks small, for the size of the vehicle

I built the Italeri kit of that a long time ago. It was used by the US Army in Vietnam, but they also found the gun to be too small for the size of the vehicle and so replaced it by the M109 (same vehicle with 155 mm howitzer) soon. The main user after that was Belgium.
