1:32 is a traditional scale, and — my guess is — it probably derives from British/American units of measurement: 1 inch on the real thing equals ¹∕₃₂ inch on the model is the kind of ratio that you guys seem to not find strange The choice of 1:35 apparently comes from a purely practical decision by Tamiya: the story goes that they wanted to release a battery-powered Panther tank and found that a hull wide enough to fit two batteries (probably “C” size) side by side, was 1:35 scale. Why nobody went, “That’s just a little smaller than the 1:32 scale that aircraft models are already made in, so let’s use that instead” is probably the real question there

1:32 (or 3/8ths to the foot scale) is gauge one railway scale which is also equivalent to 54mm figure scale. Probably comes from Britain’s soldiers and Basset Lowke railway stuff....as they were world dominators in their day everyone copied them. Jakko’s comment on Tamiya probably has the same driving force, world leaders copied by the rest....
To be honest I always thought 1/36 would be the most logical scale at that size, it’s twice the size of 1/72,..

I didn’t realise that, but that probably explains it being used for other things as well, yes.

Airfix tried 1:32 scale armour around the same time, of course, but they released, what, four kits? It only took them about fifty years to join the rest of the world in 1:35 after that (And not even with original kits at that.)

Only if you intend to release models in both scales, I think, since this will make conversion of designs much easier from one to the other (not an issue today, but if you have to do it by hand …). Plus: if your goal is to fit batteries into the hull then 1:36 would be just too small.

A rebox - but something different................... "Two Royal Navy colour schemes from the training unit, in extreme weathering and one in the colors of the Polish Squadron 318." Extreme weathering? that sounds interesting.................

Ordered mine direct as on a special offer. Not bothered about the tracks as Dave had explained to me how to assemble them when I built the later model from Trumpeter.
              Happy days .

I’m not an expert, but after consulting a book I think it’s the 12,8 cm FlaK 40 on a Sd.Anh. 220. The 10,5 cm FlaK 38 and 39 had a cruciform lower mounting, like the 8,8 cm FlaK 36 and 37, but the one in the illustration you posted has an H-style mounting.

I rather fancy this one - have over 100 reference photos for one. Briefly contemplated scratching one but didn't have enough info for scaling accurately

This is an odd one! ICM haven't got any British 1/32 aircraft in their catalogue - maybe the Gladiator in the background is a clue?
