I don’t think I’d spend that much for a plastic kit in 1:72 scale … but I would certainly recommend MACO kits, and the Revell kits designed by MACO, to anyone wanting a high-quality, well-detailed model. The Revell Sd.Kfz. 7/1, for example, is one of theirs and I found it a very impressive model (it’s almost a shame I had to replace the gun barrels by metal rods because I wanted to use it as a wargames model). If you come across them at reasonable prices — say, around what they were new — then I don’t think you should hesitate to pick them up if they’re at all the kind of model you’re interested in.

"When you're the only table in town you get to set the odds". There are some truck models in 1/87 that sell for over $60@ new retail. I can't imagine a modeler or wargamer paying that, so must agree collectors may be the problem w/pricing. PaulE

Not that I would pay that kind of price for a 1/72 scale but For those that build in that scale (or smaller) as said sometimes being the only option sort of sets the price.
BUT if the kit is good and the detail such that you dont need to fork out more money on extra detail; brass, resin, better tracks and the such I guess it ballences it out a bit.
Well aware that not all go the add on/extra route. The questions stands how does the maths work on an expensive but high end kit contra a cheaper kit + Brass and resin goodies.
The best example I have is the 1/72 HMS Snowberry A basicaly good enough kit for the price. Add to that all the brass, resin and white metal you can get hole of and the price is......Lets just say a lot. (over 3x the base kit price).
I digress.Comment

Official Zvezda photos? Interesting that they seem to recommend model cement by two or three of their competitorsComment

Jakko,
Zvezda don't appear to make their own cement ( at least it doesn't appear on their website............), but Revell do have tie-ins with Zvezda ( I'm making their reboxed Armata at the moment! ), and as for Tamiya Extra Thin - I would guess that a majority of modemakers have a bottle on their bench....
