Hi Alistair, nice to see you again.
Glad the mojo is rising agpain. I have had similar issues, but with me the playing mojo has simply evaporate. I haven’t played or practiced properly for many months. Out of interest, what guitar did you buy?

Thanks John, Jim & Tim- I made a start on the build for Simon’s tribute, but my heart really wasn’t in it. Better to direct my energies elsewhere than do a half-baked job, I thought.

I sold my Epiphone 335 just before Christmas, as although it was a lovely guitar, I never used it. I then developed a serious itch for something to fill the gap, and after a lot of trawling on eBay, I won this:

A Dave Murray signature Fender Stratocaster - I have not put it down since it arrived on the day after my birthday. I’m finally getting back to the guitarist I used to be 15 years ago- now I’m aching for lockdown to lift, so I can get the band going again. Playing along to records is great for the skill-set, but nothing beats playing with other musicians. I’ve played in bands since I was 16, and I miss live music terribly at the moment.

Nice Strat, though I’ve never taken to them. I have a nice Tele though. My main gig axe is an LP, but I rehearse with an Epi 335. I changed out the pups for bare knuckle Mississippi queens. Sounds great. I too want lockdown to lift so I can play with the lads again. That’s the spur I need to play again I think. I’ll never be the player I was ten or so years ago, RA has put paid to that, but I still like playing in a band.

Every hot lead needs a rhythm section. Good to hear from you guys. PaulE

I'd love to be able to play a musical instrument but alas, I couldn't carry a tune if it was gift wrapped with a bow around it! You guitarists might like this:

Thanks for that Dave. This one is worth a listen as well, Thom is the son of very good friends of mine. His dad plays lead for the tribute band All Floyd.

Well, he is a graduate of Brighton Institute of Music Alastair......Guthrie Govan was his tutor.....
His dad is the lead player in this lot...the one sat at the lap steel in the starter shot..

He is completely self taught.....this was their first gig.
Both bands were just getting somewhere until Covid stopped them.

Great videos Tim. Brings back a few memories that I thought were lost in the mists.

                        Thanks Scottie!

Just for interest, that cover picture on the YouTube link I posted is a close-up of the glacis plate on an old MkII Churchill that used to sit on a berm just off J35A of the M1 outside Chapeltown Sheffield. it’s sadly no longer there, having been removed some years ago - not sure where it went?

Certainly very talented Tim, but not my style of music.
