Ok I suppose for a present to some one thinking about modelling, personally to me just another marketing thing in my eyes bit like dry brushing paint !

    What do you think ?

I think if they had glue and brushes in there it would make a nice starter kit, a more upmarket version of the current airfix offerings, but I'm guessing the price will be much higher than the airfix offerings.

Perhaps you could give it to Bob as a present?

Think Bob would love it Tim :smiling5:

Ive seen mig producing these boxings and thought why?
As a starter set you’d probably not want to get involved in washes and oil paints etc, so assume it’s directed at intermediate modellers?
Not something I’d want to buy myself unless buying this way gave a decent price saving but as a gift set, it’s probably not a bad choice?

They do quite a few of these now and I think the market must be the modeller with a few kits under their belt and want to step up a level.
The fact they keep producing new versions implies there is a market.

Interesting to read what you 3 think. Agree with adding brushes as Dom says, surprising they didn't go that far.

Now Tim don't tempt me, but think he has enough to contend with ship building :smiling2:

Si. Well they've covered about everything yet leave brushes out as Dom says . Would have to be the intermediate modeler , who else would attempt the Oil brushers.:nerd:

Judging by my model start to finish ratio, that counts me out then lol

Or a good gift when someone buys you something outside your normal interest, as in don't have the paint for it.

Is it cheaper to buy the individual paints/pigments or do you get a discount coming together in one box?. Thats the only thing that would appeal.

I think JR is secretly buying the worlds stock of this to ship out to every member, in an effort to convert them to the dark side of 4B0

Looks like that one can be had for £41.99. As someone who's only just trying to get started in the weathering game, it's something I might consider. In a sea of internet tutorials and everyone offering a different combination of different products, it would be handy to have a one-stop set with everything you need, and a guide telling you exactly how to use it. Once you get the hang of what's in the kit, you'd had a greater understanding of what each individual product does, and can buy separate ones in the future to suit your needs.

The price would have to make sense though; I wouldn't be willing to pay a premium just for them to put it all in one box :smiling5:

But yes, I imagine it's probably not marketed at the experienced modeler, who can already do this stuff perfectly fine on their own. For me, I'd think about it!

With 4BO written on the box I bet John Race has secretly ordered a set.

I got my mits on a 'Solution box' a while ago, I wanted to try new techniques and Mig Ammo's acrylic paints. They may seem a little pricey, but when you add up what's in them, they're pretty much the same value as if you bought each item individually. A good way to get started, but if you don't need the books or weathering items, I suggest buying each item as required instead of the box.
