Thanks again.
EDIT:
Ignore me Barry, I was thinking of the ZM 109.....I'll go have a lie down somewhere in a dark corner....Comment

I spoke to my supplier the other day, they said they are being shipped but nothing has left yet, but it should be in the Uk around the end of JuneComment

I have just been watching part 8 of Nigel’s Modelling Bench review (YouTube).
The fit and detail on this kit is so exquisite that I may end up having some one or two open hatches and doors on my build. This is something I don’t normally do…. Not just the bomb bay…….
This kit is seriously good. He is doing a number of comparisons between this and the HKM 1/32 Lanc (he is also building) and you can see why this kit is worth its £600 price tag compared to the £350 for HKM.
Well worth watching his videos from part 1 onwards.Comment

I look forward to your build of this.

Horses for courses. I disagree that it is worth nearly double. In fact i personally think people are mad paying that much for a model in the first place. But each to their own. Their money after all. But no doubt we'll get all the 'it's the best thing since sliced bread therefore everything else is unbuildable' from certain sectors of the model world.Comment

This kit can be described as the Ferrari of model aircraft and, being into these things, this is the Ferrari I am willing to buy.Comment

That is the worst part. That some people will be willing to spend a lot of money on a kit, and others won’t be, I completely understand. But the crowd that calls everything else crap and unbuildable every time a better kit of the subject comes along, I doubt I’ll ever understand.Comment

Your point is well taken Jakko as I take crap and turn it into scale models all the time........I really enjoy the challenge. On the other hand I wouldn't mind coming across the occasional "shake the box" kit.....and the perfect rendition falls out. Either way it is a very rewarding hobby. I'm sure that once Barry gets into this "new" kit he will more than likely find little "foibles" that need correcting or added to,......'tis the nature of the beast.Comment

The worst part, to me, is that a large number of these will not get built. A significant proportion will be bought as “an investment” and will be sold on later at inflated prices. I know that’s supply and demand in action, but the so called damaged moulds will fuel this behaviour, perhaps deliberately. It all seems a little dishonest.
However, I wish you well with yours Barry. I’m sure you will get full value from the build :thumb2:Comment

I won't be buying one of these. Not because I can't afford it - though it would eat up a couple of years of my modelling budget - or because I think it's too expensive, but because I don't have the skills to do it justice.
Maybe that would be worse than someone buying it as an investment. If I don't buy one and turn it into a sow's ear, then it's still out there somewhere for someone who could build it properly.Comment

I think it's better if a panel of top builders get to grips with this kit and give their reviews if it's the better kit for the moment than manufacturers labelling Gold standards on their boxes when it's a previous flawed kit with some extra parts thrown in. I won't mention the brand.
Then let those who have deep pockets or saved immensely to enjoy constructing the reviewed best kit. Inevitably there will be another better one along the way but I think not for the Lancaster as this may be the ultimate one.
Enjoy the build Barry.
Cheers,
