    Klarna

    Hi gang,

    Just a Quickie.

I've ordered some goods from SMS and see that a company called Klarna offered an installment plan via SMS.

The reviews they're getting are very good so I'm using them as this would be great for my kids but I'll test them first.

Any of you used Klarna in the shop?

    Thanks

Basically a paypal alternative. Pretty reputable, I recently bought a fairly pricey bit of furniture using a payment plan just to spread it out a bit.

It now seems defunct with this model shop…

        …but I did try!

It’s only available for orders over £60, the commission they charge me doesn’t make it worth while, it’s also not available for preorders

That’s a shame - I have just put in for the Takom Tiger box - That’s over £60. I understand the commission but the customers like me will surely appreciate the option - which must work well with you too?

edit. Don’t worry John, I can always use ‘pay in 3’ which is probably a little more sensible.

I Wouldn’t offer it if I didn’t want people to use it, I just made the decision to not make it available under £60, before I did that I had quite a few orders for £10,£15 or lower which isn’t worth it for me.

Just out of interest John, what's the most cost effective way for you, for us to buy stuff? I used to run a business so am aware that some fees can be a bit onerous.

Cold hard cash well it used to be but now banks charge you for depositing it, Paypal are expensive 30p+ a %, cards can be a lot cheaper depending on how much you turn over, my card provider charges 10p + % but then you have a monthly fee and need a merchant account, there is no real best way, they all take their cut, unfortunately it's a business expense that you can't opt out off.
