"A matter of life and death"

    Hi Guys

I a, sure that so,e of you will, like me, be a fan of the 1940's film "A matter of life and death" starring the late, great David Niven. For anybody who has not seen the film - see it! It is one of the greats!

the reason for the posting is that at 3.p0p.m.
on Saturday afternoon there is a new, radio version of the film on BBC radio 4:

it might be the ideal thing to listen too while modelling.

If you cannot catch it on Saturday I am sure it will be available on the BBC website.

        Sounds great...
... Unfortunately I don't do BBC anymore,( for political and the licensing fee, reasons),so I'll have to wait until it's available elsewhere, but I'll certainly look out for it :thumb2:

I don't have a Sat dish,or terrestrial ariel Gary,(got rid of both to enable me to sack off the licence fee), didn't see any value for what I was paying.
I do have fibre however,so stream things that way,the free channels and you tube suit me fine, what the BBC and ITV churn out on a daily basis is of no interest to me whatsoever :thumb2:.

Its not on TV - its a radio adaptation on BBC radio 4 so a license fee is not needed.

ANYTHING related to the BBC,(and even some ITV stuff?!!),does require you to have a license Peter,as unfair as it is, even just an iPlayer account means you need one.
Basically, they've done everyone up like a kipper to make money!!

Any live tv (delivered any way including live streaming ) plus iPlayer requires a TV licence.
                  It isn't a BBC licence.

No, you do not need a TV Licence to listen to the radio (including on BBC Sounds).

                    Sorry Gary,I have to disagree..
Myself and many people I know, have looked into it thoroughly down here, fact is, you can even be prosecuted for just having a BBC I player account.
Might be be different where you are,but we were told also, that just by having Sky,we were liable for a licence fee... Because that gave us access to live TV,if we watched it or not!! ... You can argue all you like mate, but I'm just telling you how it is :thumb2:

I was quoting from the official site.
I spent 28 1/2 years dealing with copyright clearance and licensing for media and computer software.

Getting it wrong would have been a very serious problem for the company and myself.

I thought the license was all about 'receiving' any radio or TV transmission via terrestrial or satellite service!!

Edited to say I wuz wrong!!! (Not for the first time)

Screen print from the 'ofcom' site. Anyone can listen/receive a radio transmission. It appears a license is only needed if the equipment is capable of transmission!!

                          Andy i disagree,

When the license fee was introduced in the 1920s if was for radio, after the WW2 the fee was increased and covered both radio and TV but in 1971 the requirement for a license to radio ended and since then the licence fee has only been in relation to tv.

This screen shot from the TV licensing website is very clear:

this is one reason why the BBC has two streaming services: iplayer for TV (which needs a license) and BBC sounds for radio - which does not need a license.

Gotta admit that I'm bored with all this now..
... All I said was I can't stand the BBC,and what is involved regarding being able to bow out of paying for the licence.
If you all know better, then good on you, I've just done what, officially,I had to,and all of your various interpretations may be well founded in your cirmstances,I suspect though, that you've not actually cancelled your licence fee yet?!... I have and I'm rather happy about it :nerd:

You must be joking!!! With a wife addicted to the soaps!! I'm not that suicidal!!!!! Whatever the fee is it's worth it, simply for the peace and quiet it gives.
