    All the best John.
Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.

Yes it was always going to happen, sorry you don't like it but it doesn't mean it's not going to happen, it's VB6 which is newer than the Xenforo we are using now.

I've just sent them a copy of the database, so it probably means any post or thread after this one will not be moved across, hopefully it goes smoothly, I don't like not being in control over something like this

        Good luck.
I administrated a Vbulletin forum, a long time ago, its a decent system , just a few foibles.

It’s your forum, of course, but it’d probably help if you could explain the reason to move over to entirely different forum software from one that, from my perspective as both a user here and a XenForo admin elsewhere, is both working well and user-friendly.

That’s not good, really. Things will get lost that way.

Exactly when is the transfer starting? And aprox. how long will the transfer take?

It will allow us to plan when to 'not' post to avoid the loss of our posts/threads!!

How will I cope? Will SWMBO survive if I go cold turkey???

Hope the transfer goes smoothly. (For our sanity) :tears-of-joy: :tears-of-joy::tears-of-joy:

Hey ho Jakko does it really matter as long as we're all here on the other side you seem to be the only one losing sleep over this as you say its John's forum and as he explained he was to to be in controll of his forum ,we were all told that during this change over a few posts might be lost ,including this one perhaps..........?

Who would it help? I like Vb and wish I had never moved away from it in the first place, maybe you can tell me why you feel I have to explain my decisions to you or anyone?

Unfortunately I can’t answer that, if I was doing it myself I would know, the only way not to lose posts is close the forum until it’s done, but I don’t want to do that.

Me, for one, else I would probably not be asking it.

Because they impact me, as well as a bunch of others? I take it that, assuming you don’t live alone, you wouldn’t walk into the house one day and announce out of the blue, “Start packing, we’re moving next week”? Yet that’s pretty much what you’re doing here — not “I would like to switch to vBulletin, what do you guys think?” but “We’re moving to vBulletin, sucks to be you if you don’t like it.”

Jakko.....you seem to forget one thing.....we are not living in a democracy.......we are in a dictatership.......john is the guy in charge......he can do whatever he wants without consulting the population......he can switch off the forum if he wants.....we have no say in the matter......so just chill and go with the flow

I now have a mental image that john looks like kim jong un :flushed:

Bring it on i say....get it done and move on
