I am astounded by the Group-Think mentality of this thread. Jakko is a decent and thoughtful guy with a deep knowledge of many subjects, who is constantly trying to contribute to the hobby in many and varied ways. The refusal by the Admin to engage with him meaningfully is beyond my understanding; not a single question about why he was concerned about the host change, just outright dismissal.
    I am very disappointed.

Quite chilled thanks, and yes, so have I. I’ve replied in a far less considered fashion to them as well.
I just wish some of the semi evolved simians around here (just another expression) would climb back up their trees and not pile into what, to be frank, wasn’t their argument in the first place.

I think I told him a few times that I wish I had never moved away from vb in the first place, but that wasn’t enough for him, it isn’t the first I and others have had a run in with him.

Tim Marlow you‘re right we shouldn’t make fun of people that can’t answer back, but as Ian said it’s just a saying

Perhaps this is not the forum for you. You've only been a member for a couple of months and whenever you join a group it does take a while to decide if it's right for you. I wish you well.

He certainly was a very active member of the forum. I thoroughly enjoyed his builds and was amazed at the depth of his knowledge. He'll be missed but the decision was his and I respect that.

In addition, this post is yet another passive aggressive attack on someone that can no longer defend themselves and, I feel, reflects very badly on the forum and the majority of its paying members. Personally I utterly detest passive aggression. In my opinion it’s the most cowardly and destructive form of bullying and feel there is far too much of it on this forum at present. Still, if you derive amusement from it, carry on.
If someone wants to decide which software is to be used to run a forum, they should set up their own forum. Nor does someone providing a service have to enter into a debate with someone who doesn't like the way it works. If you don't like the way a forum looks or works, then there are other options.
                There, is that clear enough?

I set up the ATF eighteen years ago and that forum has been forced to go through two migrations, due to decisions of the hosts. The latest migration actually took away a lot of Admin control but it has also made the remaining Admin tasks much easier than it used to be. When I think back to the sheer amount of Admin work I had to do in 2006, compared to now, I don't know how I did it. I fully understand why John is migrating this forum and hopefully his [Admin] life will be much easier.

Forum members are a pretty robust lot and although forum layouts may change, the people don't. It won't be long before the new-look forum becomes the well-worn one we all like and memory of the current one will fade in time.

Of course, a new-look to the forum isn't going to help me with my Shelf of Doom but at least I still have a place where I can talk about it....

Clear enough, yes. Not sure how it relates to me or anything I’ve written though? Perhaps you could explain that bit further?

                        Right then!

I can see this thread becoming nothing more than an argument and not the kind of thing we want on the forum. Can we please just let it rest and move on.

Back on subject please. (The change of software if you have forgotten).

If you feel this way maybe this is not the forum for you. We have enough “Newbies” on here that knows it all.
