    Big,Big B-17

There have been a couple of 1/48 B-17s shown/built recently on the forum and they are a substantial size. I know as I've built one myself. Well you'd better clear some shelves and extend your sheds if you plan to build this beauty, coming out next year.

Ouch, bet Dave (Gern) wants one lol. Like the price, not expected to exceed $250 (£158 at current rates). Best order a few more pots of Alclad lol

I'd love to have a go at one. I'd better start saving up!

I just checked a site with initials something like HS and the p*ssing and moaning has already started. What the hell is the matter with some people? If you don't like it don't buy it,you can still marvel at the gumption of a fairly small outfit based in the Netherlands putting it into production. As someone who prefers 1/32 I'm feeling a bit spoilt at the moment, there is some good stuff appearing in this scale.

As for the price,I paid the best part of £100 for the 1/32 Tamiya Spitfire and on balance I think it was worth it. You get a lot of model for your £160 ish. It's a lot of money but I think I could justify it,at least to myself. The real problem is what would you do with a model that size when it's finished? I live in a modestly sized three bedroom house, not Blenheim palace lol.

      Cheers

        OMG, that is awesome!!!

I have no idea where I would display such a beast - a 1/32 bomber excellent. Now what about a 1/32 Lanc!!!

        Cheers

Is it wrong to get physically excited about that?. That is better than the underwear section in the Kays catalogue.

My wife would shoot me if i came home with that.

Well they've already done three versions of the "Marauder". I believe 2500 of each which you can pre-order now. I have a feeling that they are testing the market for such large models so who knows. On the bright side the wingspan of a Lancaster was fractionally less than a B-17 so if they did do one you could tell SWMBO that it's a smaller model and needs less space without actually fibbing!

When I mentioned the price, I wasn't saying it was too much, just the way they had put it made me smile. Oddly, I am not sure if it is more exciting than the underwear section of Kays catalogue but at my age, even the DeWalt tool catalogue fails these days.........

As people may know, I am not a fan of 1:32, in fact I only have a single 1:32 aircraft in my stash but or this, I could make an exception

Just think of the aftermarket and scratch building possibilities. This could end up being one seriously impressive model

I know what you mean, they have left open the possibility of it being a lot more. I wonder how well this will really sell. It's a considerable sum of money, even for someone like me who often pays £40-£60 quid for large scale kits. On the other hand compared with some hobbies or pass times kit building is a pretty cheap option. I have explained this many times to SWMBO!

I wonder how big the box will be. It may be a bit tricky smuggling it in. If it won't go through the loft hatch I won't be able to hide it either.

                        Cheers

WOW. That is an impressive sight. As with everyone else i would have no room for the bloody thing. I have the 1/48 sitting unmade for the same reason but 1/32. Geez. lol.

I'm not quite sure how I would break it to the wife that we would need an extention, I already get a knowing look when I put up a new shelf!
